Compete

Many fun dance contests are offered at MADjam. There are divisions for all skill and experience levels from first time rookies to seasoned professional competitors. Winners receive cash prizes, gift certificates, peer admiration and customized ribbons or plaques. All contests will be judged by a well-respected panel of judges. Scoring is done electronically using the relative placement system. Below is a simple summary of the contests. There are entry requirements and limitations specific to each contest.  Good luck!

Advance registration is encouraged. Discounts end Feb 28. You may also enter contests onsite.

STRICTLY SWING – Enter with your partner, we pick the music. No costumes or choreography allowed.
Levels Newcomer/Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, AllStar, Champion
Age Divisions: Sophisticated (35+), Masters (50+)
Just for fun: Hello MADjam (competitors must live 750+ miles apart)

JACK & JILL – The ultimate social dance contest with cash prizes! Enter without a partner, couples are randomly paired, we pick the music. There will be multiple rounds of competition for each division.
WSDC LEVELS: Newcomer, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Allstar, Champion
Age Divisions: Masters-Novice, Masters-Open
Switch It Up: Show off your role switching skills
World Swing Dance Council (WSDC)

PROAM JACK & JILL – Enter individually. Dance with a randomly drawn Allstar or Champion partner. Levels: Newcomer/Novice, Intermediate

CHOREOGRAPHY – Bring your partner, your music, your costumes and routine. Everyone receives a FREE professionally produced video of their performance!
Rising Star (RST) This is the entry level choreography event. Lifts are allowed but not required.
Classic (NASDE) Traditional swing with limited partner supported moves
Showcase (NASDE) Swing with required lifts, drops, tricks and partner supported moves.
Showtime Exhibition – ProAm couples enjoy 3 minutes of fame in the spotlights with a live audience and 1000s more watching online.

MADjam music is licensed with Ascap, BMI and Seasac through the National Fast Dance Association.
